Photon Camera: ScienceWerks Special

M.I.T. scientists have created a camera that is a first step in capturing images at near light to light speed.

The applications possible with capturing imagery at photon speeds are nearly limitless, and offer to give us the best understanding yet as to how light actually functions.

Keep in mind, this is a first step, requiring a very controlled environment and 3D modeling to apply the sensor data to, so don’t be expecting widespread usage of cameras of this ilk in the immediate future, but a benchmark has now been set for current and future sciences to improve upon.

Wow.
